This series is for the sole purpose of bringing to our attention as a community of womxn artists the important resources, ideas and needs that will and have come up and how we can help one another thru this new reality. We have so much to learn and exchange with one another as we are increasingly questioning society’s methodologies of mapping and writing grand narratives. So, what does this moment allow us to do?

We are honored to begin this series with our first guest, LA based artist and consultant Corrina Peipon.

NWLA Lost and Found Poetry - Writing Workshop by Lena Chen

23434924_745156215674458_960494450099077974_n.jpg

Lost & Found Poetry: an all-levels writing workshop on gender and trauma

At Nous Tous Gallery, Chinatown LA

454b Jung Jing Rd, Los Angeles, CA 90012

7PM-9PM

In this workshop, we apply creative writing techniques to explore personal experiences with gender, sexuality, mental health, and violence. Using constrained writing and poetry exercises, we will learn how to embrace vulnerability as a source of strength and pain as fuel for inspiration. We will also address how creative expression can help us confront traumatic experiences and heal ourselves through rewriting personal narratives.

Participants will take home at least one completed piece of writing. Suitable for all ages and experience levels. Please be prepared to share stories (of your choosing) in an intimate group setting.

NWLA Talk - We Sell Feel by Dejha Ti

22894476_740112529512160_3192039320794332648_n.jpg

What is possible when we go beyond ‘good’ design? Where did the standard criteria of ‘good’ come from and who does it serve? ‘Official’ design history omits women and the feminine voice. Dejha Ti brings us through her discovery that her work no longer needs to be put into a masculine box to be taken seriously. This leads to her method of designing with feel—an intersection of image-making, gender and challenging the limits of logic. ‘Good’ design restricted her feel. For those of us who can relate, Dejha Ti shares how she got her feel back.

Gallery Reception starts at 7PM

At Nous Tous Gallery, Chinatown LA
Q&A afterwards

Dejha Ti is a Los Angeles based creative director and installation artist with no allegiance to any one medium. She has developed experiences for brands like Hulu, Pepsi, BET, L'oreal.

followed by Q&A with IGNOFEAR ‘s writer Monia Ayachi.

Monia Ayachi is an LA based actress/writer/producer recurring on "General Hospital". She actively works in TV and film, locally and internationally. Welcome to Nasty Women LA Exhibition (coming soon...)

THE EXHIBITION :

The NASTY WOMEN exhibition in LA is a foundraising show, aiming at bringing awareness and changing people’s perception and challenge their notion of women's rights.

In our contemporary world of social upheaval and religious conflict this exhibition represents an oasis of peace and equality, celebrating women through the artists self-identifying as Nasty Women and Men.

It will be the FIRST LA exhibition of NASTY WOMEN using photography, film, music, painting, drawing and installation.

Alongside the exhibition a program of music and multi-media visual performances and workshops (art making, art therapy, letter writing to congress, protest sign making) will be added to our calendar. Sign up for our newsletter and check back soon!
