Opening Night // We Are Nasty Women, The Exhibition

One year after the elections, we are standing stronger than ever. More than ever today, it is time to come together !

Nous Tous Gallery is pleased to announce "WE ARE NASTY WOMEN", a group exhibition that serves to demonstrate solidarity among artists who identify with being a Nasty Woman in the face of recent and ongoing threats to women’s and minorities' rights.

Opening on November 3rd of 2017 from 6:00PM to 10:00PM and on view through November 18th; the exhibition features a diverse series of portraits of self-identifying Nasty Women Artists taken by Los Angeles based photographer Amanda Lopez. The exhibition will also be presenting a limited edition 2018 Calendar with our featured artists and their stories, to be sold at location, with all proceeds given to Planned Parenthood.

Our 12 Nasty Women featured artists are:
Andrea Santizo - sculptor, weaver Melissa Martell - tattoo artist
Ana Sia - music producer & dj
Sue Zhou - classical pianist, concert artist Maria Penn - painter
Ryat - musician, performer
Las Fotos project - group of young photographers
Kona - singer, songwriter
Paradise Khanmalek - writer, illustrator
Iliona Blanc - director, musician
Genai Nakama - embroiderer
Ania Catherine - choreographer

— NASTY WOMEN is the result of an artist’s call for action on social media that was quickly answered. Nasty women artists made history at the Knockdown Center in Queens, Jan 12-15, 2017 when a sold out exhibition raised over $42,000 for Planned Parenthood. With over 30 sister-shows worldwide, $181,000 has already been raised for women's rights and social services, while dozens more are being planned.
